we received an invitation in the mail to a holiday party for young members at the american museum of natural history. we almost didn't go. and even though the kids went to bed super late, it was definitely worth it.
we entered the museum right where the origami tree is. it's such a cool tree. how many different animals can you see on it? this was the only holiday related part of the party.
the party was all about dinosaur train.
we started with milk and cookies while we watched a winter episode of the show. then simon made an acorn bird feeder, we made fossils (not pictured), sorted through birds and pterosaurs and dug for dinosaur bones. simon also got to meet buddy.
in some ways simon seems too old and mature to be excited about seeing buddy. but he looks genuinely excited. he went right up to him and gave him a hug. it was really sweet. i snuck in the picture on the top right because i love that you can see the buildings out the window. it's such a great view from that room.
this kid was so happy, and yet so tired.
so we went home, immediately got mim to bed and then did a quick bed-time routine and did our other advents.
last night simon thought we lost the star to the christmas tree because he saw a picture with both of them. turns out it was just behind the next door. but do you see the story unfolding? first there is a guy (fireman?), then a chainsaw, then the tree that he must have cut down, and now a ladder and star. what is going to happen next?
