i love that the easter bunny that comes to our house now is the same easter bunny that came to my house {and my dad's house} as a kid. he takes yarn and strings it all over our house and hides a basket at the end of the string. simon didn't feel like he could handle the yarn, so he asked daddy to help him out.
his basket was hiding in the laundry basket. man, when mim gets a basket too there is going to be yarn everywhere.
we made simon wait until he found his basket before he could find all the eggs. makes sense, he needed somewhere to put his eggs when he found them.
i love that simon cracked his eggs open.
and a lot of candy. granted, less than he's put in the eggs any other year.
when all the eggs were opened, robert looked up the scripture references and read them to simon.
then we decorated eggs, since we failed to do it earlier. the eggs were still hot, so that the crayons would melt, so simon couldn't touch them. we could barely do it. it was fun using crayons though. i'll have to find a less painful method if i'm going to do it again.
that was our easter. it turned out pretty nice. especially considering i hadn't given it any thought until after simon went to sleep the night before.

I put pictures in our eggs too but Danny would throw them on the ground saying they were empty!
Ha ha, me too; but we gave up on coloring our eggs. It just didn't seem worth it to try and fit it in with tired kids, lots of activities, etc. So we didn't. Good job making it a great Easter still! :)
I really like your Easter egg idea for putting pictures and scriptures in them. (And I'm also a big fan of planning the night before. I'm not the type to go above and beyond for something my 2 year old may or may not appreciate.)
