2010 Jan 23 Family Letter

Where to start. I think I'll start from the beginning of this semester. This is the end of the third week, and Robert has spent every Saturday at school. I hear 2nd year students don't have to study on Saturday as much. I look forward to next school year. This week has been especially tough. I think Robert has had to study every night this week. I guess his hard work is paying off though, because he got his grades back and he's in the top 20% of his class! Yea Robert!

So far this month Simon and I have gone to the Law Partners play group twice. Once at McDonald's (surprisingly good place to play) and once at Jump On It. The trampoline place has mommy and me time twice a week where the mom is free and kids under 3 are free, so it was free for the both of us, and lots of fun. They have many many trampolines divided into two sections, some more bouncy than others. And they have blow up jumpers. Simon wasn't too keen on those since I couldn't go inside of them with him. The next children's hour that we will attend is at the Bean museum. I hope Simon likes it.

This past week Simon and I tried 2 new things. Simon had his first Kindermusik class. I think he liked it. But he was very curious about things that he wasn't supposed to get into. He kept reaching for the shelves up above and tried to get into cabinets. The lessons were focused on going fast and slow and we used trains and cars and other modes of transportation to demonstrate. He ran around, listened to stories and combined action with music. I actually got a little emotional during the class because I think it will be very good for Simon. We also went to the aquarium in Salt Lake this week. I'm not sure how much simon liked it. He seemed the most interested in the "wet floor" signs. I bought a membership too. I think it will be ok. I think in the course of the year, as Simon matures and develops, it will become more interesting to him.

Just over a week ago I had oral surgery, again. I'll be very happy when my mouth reconstruction is complete. Recovery this time hasn't seemed as smooth as last time, but I can't really remember last time. I'm still taking advil to control the pain. At least I'm not taking anything stronger. But I went to the orthodontist two days ago and he's already got devices to pull my tooth down, which I think is preventing my mouth from not hurting. I really really hope this tooth comes down fast. But the oral surgeon told my orthodontist that I have the densist bone that he's come across in his practice. Hmm.

I think that sums up the past few weeks. For the next few weeks I'm hoping that Robert's school schedule will calm down a bit and that my mouth will feel better. Simon is great. Oh, he had another tooth cut, and has 3 more coming. That is all.

loves, lynda

Thanks for the update. I like hearing what is going on in your life and Robert's and Simon's. Congratulations to Robert on his successful grades. Thanks to you for all the support you give him. You are doing a great job as a wife and mom. I hope you are doing things to take care of you, too.
Hugs to all of you! Cathi :-)
