18 cat years = 85 human years

tom has had diarrhea since sunday, almost a week.  he's also not eaten very much since then, if anything.  we took him to the vet on tuesday and got some antibiotics and anti-parasitic, but he wouldn't keep it down when we gave it to him.  his condition didn't improve.  he was lethargic and wouldn't eat.  he only drank water when i took him to his water dish.  we took him back to the vet today and he said that tom was severly dehydrated and emaciated. it was a really tough decision to make, but we didn't want tommy to suffer anymore. 18 years is a long time for a cat, especially with 10 years of partial renal failure.  we'll miss you tommy... your big eyes, and your unique meows...rubbing your tummy and scratching your chin... we'll miss you.

Oh! I'm so sorry to hear that! My first dog lived to be 16.... Hang in there!

Sad day...

How sad! Tommy was such a neat, unique cat. It sounds like he wasn't doing well and the end was near anyway. So sad, though.

That last photo is so beautiful. Also, I remember the first time Tommy came up to my room just to see me and hung out for a while. I felt quite special.
