birthday party

simon had a firefighting birthday party. these are the buildings that were on fire.

these are the fire hoses being loaded.

and these are the firefighters doing their job.

they did an excellent job of putting out the fire.

they did not, however, do a very good job of putting fire hats on fire doggie. nor were they very good at keeping the blindfold on. you'd think if they took the blindfold off they could at least put the hats where they were supposed to go.

this is the cake.

almost immediately after i got my android phone in october, simon started watching youtube videos. fire truck was one of the first searches and it found this video. i've seen it many many times. i probably could have made this cake without the help of the video. but i didn't want to mess up. so when the time came i had the video loaded and other websites up. i also gave myself at least two days to make this cake. i refused to have the difficulties that i had for his first birthday. i'm actually quite proud of this cake. i'd say it was a success.

and the kids all seemed to like it.

then simon opened presents, very seriously.

i'd say it was a good birthday party. thank you friends for celebrating with us. thank you simon for being so awesome.
