colors explode

holi: a spring festival celebrated by hindus, sikhs.....and robert, lynda and simon.

there is a krishna temple in spanish fork that hosts a festival of colors (holi) every spring. i've lived here since 2003 and this was the first year i actually got around to attending. this festival is pretty big, apparently the largest in the united states. and since last year they had over 10,000 people show up, they decided to hold two celebrations (in one day) this year, and 20,000 people came. crazy. they had to beef up parking, that's where we are in these pictures. there was a shuttle running between the high school and the temple. we just missed the shuttle when we got there, as in the shuttle closed its doors as we were purchasing our tickets. so robert and simon ran around, and i took pictures.

while we were on the shuttle driving to the temple we saw a cloud of pink dust rise up from the temple grounds. seriously? i finally make it to holi and i miss the color throwing? when we got there we just kind of stood near people who were still throwing color and this was the result.

that wasn't enough, so we asked someone to throw a little on simon. they were very kind to oblige since you have to pay for the dust. (which i just found out while preparing this post!)

p.s. his car seat and stroller still have pink and purple dust on them.

Swa-weet. Our singles ward did a service project out there in 2001. This explains the huge mess!
