a letter came in the mail for Simon today...

he was a little suspicious at first...

but then we told him it was from his Aunt Clara, and he was like: "awwwesome!"

he wanted to read the letter right away...

and he was very happy to get a picture of his Aunt Kalaar to look at...

I told him he would be able to meet his Aunt Kalaar very soon, and he told me he was excited but also a little bit nervous...

so he jumped on the computer to write the following note:

Dear Aunt Clara,
Thank you for sending me a birthday letter. I really enjoyed reading it. I will turn one on Friday, so it was good timing. Thank you for your great example as a missionary. I will be a missionary too in 18 years. I am very excited to meet you soon and hope we can be good friends and play together.

5/19/13 - "i couldn't see you, i'm just a kid."
5/17/13 - "miriam is wearing a muscle dress. it's like a muscle shirt, but it's a dress. i know a lot about muscle clothes."
5/11/13 - as we approach staten island on the ferry: "what kind of language do they speak here?"
3/17/13 - "it's like the vampire state building!"
11/5/12 - me: "i just don't get it." him: "that's okay, i get it."
8/5/12 - him, while watching bob the builder: "daddy, they're using varnish!" "why?" "ugh, to protect against rain and other weather. i don't like saying that all the time."
6/14/12 - "i love happy daddy and happy miriam and happy mommy. and i love my happy self."
6/10/12 - "my bones make me jump so high."
6/1/12 - him: "i'm full of it." (to be fair, he was talking about his lunch.)
4/30/12 - him: "daddy, i miss you. because you go to law school so much."
4/30/12 - him: "maybe i should add milk to my prayers."
4/29/12 - me, talking about the internet: "man, i'm still not connected." him: "just try harder, mom."
4/27/12 - him: "mommy, you know what I like about dogs? they bark. woof woof."
4/24/12 - him: "the cracks in the sidewalk are booby traps. i was just thinking about that in my head. that's where my dreams are."
4/10/12 - him: "does juice come out of people?" (translation: can you get pear juice out of clothes if you spill?)
